Sutton Dentist Explains Many Uses Of Veneers

Wednesday, 13 July 2011

Dental veneers are an effective way of concealing cracked, chipped and stained teeth, and patients have reaped the benefits of increased self confidence that comes as a result. But what some people don’t know is that dental veneers can also be used on crooked teeth too. This might be just the solution that you’ve been looking for if you have a solitary crooked tooth, perhaps at the front of your mouth and don’t think it is worth the trouble and time of having a brace fitted.

Nowadays veneers tend to be made from special dental porcelain which has the advantage of being lightweight while still retaining a high level of durability. They are also resistant to staining too. They are highly adjustable in the hands of dentists so they can easily be fitted over teeth which are not quite aligned correctly. The appearance will be created of a row of teeth that are all perfectly aligned with one another and no one will know that you even have a veneer in place. As an extra benefit, your dentist can even match your dental veneer to the shade and texture of your surrounding teeth.

You should talk to your Sutton dentist if you have one or more misaligned tooth which is bothering you. There are a number of solutions to this problem but dental veneers are definitely worth considering because they are quick to fit, efficient and generally more affordable than more intensive and/or long lasting treatments.

Sutton Dentist Improves Your Smile With Lumineers

Wednesday, 4 May 2011

Veneer treatment has been around for some years now and it’s become a fantastic option for dentists and their patients: there’s a good reason behind this.To start with, veneers are versatile and easy to fit, covering up all manner of problems such as discoloration, gaps and chips. They reinstate the length of the original tooth; this may have been lost to general wear and tear over time, restoring the confidence to your smile you thought you had lost. Standard veneers however involves the removal of the enamel on the tooth. But now in Sutton, you can have a patented, Lumineer fitted instead. These are wafer thin- a third of the thickness of a normal porcelain veneer but extremely strong and once you’ve been measured up, your teeth prepared and the Lumineer made up in a lab (it takes about 2 weeks, an hour if you choose CEREC treatment), they are simply cemented over the original tooth without any enamel loss. The finish and look that it gives to the mouth is remarkable and if they are well looked after and treated with respect, they should last you up to six years. One advantage with a Lumineer is, if you don’t get on with them, the treatment is reversible- they can be taken off and the tooth restored to how it was before. Its worth asking  your dentists for a look.
