Merton dentist uses cosmetic bonding to restore appearance of teeth.

There are many complex and expensive dental treatments that can be used to improve the appearance of teeth. These are often slightly too expensive for many people to afford but with cosmetic bonding, many of these repairs or improvements are still possible at a fraction of the cost.

Cosmetic bonding is made of a composite resin that can be mixed to closely match the colour of the existing teeth. This is a skilful procedure but one that can create very impressive results. Once it is mixed to a satisfactory colour the bonding can then be applied to fix dental problems such as chips and cracks, crooked teeth or even applied thinly to cover patches of discolouration.

Prior to application, the surface of the teeth will be etched or roughed so that the bonding has more to grip onto for extra security. It will then be shaped into the desired style or position. Once this is complete, the Merton dentist will then set the bonding hard with the heat of a dental laser. Finally, the bonding is then polished to look like the smooth surface of tooth enamel.

Dental bonding is also used to fill cavities in teeth, replacing the old silver amalgam fillings that have caused so much controversy in recent years. Because the bonding can be matched to the other enamel this provides a much cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Dental bonding is a very versatile and useful tool in cosmetic dentistry. Although it may not be as realistic or impressive as other treatment such as porcelain veneers, for patients on more of a budget it can definitely be more than satisfactory.
